Transloading
Container to van, flatbed to pup, or van to hotshot.
Mode-change services at our Atlanta dock — fast, careful, documented.
What transloading solves
When the trailer the freight came on can't finish the trip.
A container hits the port, but your delivery is two states inland. A flatbed shows up with a load that can't unload at the customer's dock. A van loaded in California needs to finish on a hotshot to make a Friday deadline. That's transloading — and we do it at our Lilburn dock the same day.
Common mode changes
Container to van, flatbed to pup, van to hotshot.
- Container → Dry VanPort-to-inland deliveries when the container can't go to the dock.
- Container → FlatbedIndustrial freight unboxed at the dock and re-secured for open-deck transport.
- Flatbed → Dry VanWeather-sensitive freight switched to enclosed for the last leg.
- Flatbed → Pup TrailerSplitting a full flatbed for jobsite access constraints.
- Dry Van → HotshotLate-stage expediting when a deadline tightens.
- Multi-mode splitsOne inbound, multiple outbound — different destinations, different trailers.
Why Comet for transloading
One Atlanta dock. One team. Every paperwork format.
We've been the transload everyone-else-calls since 1970. Same-day mode changes, cargo-specific securement (chains, straps, banding, shrink-wrap), POD reissue, and clean weight tickets. When disaster strikes, we're already on the dock.
